Ctrl+Alt takes place on the stolen and unceded lands of Tio’tià:ke / Mooniyang, the traditional territory of the Kanien’kehà:ka Nation. Colonization is not a chapter of the past — it is ongoing. To gather, to create, to celebrate here means acknowledging that reality and taking responsibility for our presence.
Our cultural and artistic practices seek to reclaim public space — but to do so without recognizing Indigenous sovereignty is to reproduce the very dynamics of erasure we stand against. Decolonization is not a metaphor. It demands action: the redistribution of resources, the amplification of Indigenous voices, and a sustained commitment to land, people, and truth.

PLACE DU VILLAGE, 1114 SAINTE-CATHERINE EST, MONTRÉAL

Because it used to be a refuge. Because for some, it never was. Because it could be again. Differently, radically.
Today, too many Trans, Black, racialized, lesbian and Queer people no longer see - or never saw - themselves reflected in the Village. Fragmented and hollowed out, it has given way to a cis-centric, sanitized offering; disconnected from our lives, our needs, our joy. But in a climate of growing hate and erasure, anchoring ourselves here isn’t just symbolic, it’s essential.
So we return. We take up space. We make it ours. If gay white men no longer need the Village as a refuge, then let’s make it our safe haven. A sanctuary for all. A home for many. A place of resonance, defiance, and celebration.
Even if just for a weekend, we’re reimagining it.
Together. With you.
Because the Village is our Village too.
